Summer Road and Camping Trip

I've just finished the last of our reservations for our trip to Green Bay this summer. On Friday, July 25th we'll be leaving in the afternoon for Ludington (MI) where we'll be sleeping overnight at our only hotel. In the morning, Saturday 26th July, we'll take the 9 am ferry over to Wisconsin and will be in Green Bay around 1:30 pm. We are planning on staying with the Cruse/Lessuise family until the morning of Wednesday, August 6th when we'll head north to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to start the camping. After 3 days there, we head to Chutes Provincial Park for 3 days, followed by 4 days at Oastler Provincial Park and then home. Let's hope the kids camp well! We'll be home by August 17. Thanks Emily for taking care of Oink the Guinea Pig!

More Spring Photos

Spring (but with summer heat!) has seriously started now. This Late Spring 2008 Photo Set includes shots of Galen's soccer season, our hikes through the Royal Botanical Gardens forests, a visit to the open house at the neighbourhood Aviary, and our Father's Day trip to Niagara Falls.

Canada Apologizes

I will readily admit crying while listening to CBC coverage of the Prime Minister's apology. For those unfamiliar with this dark part of Canada's history, the CBC has a good overview (more here) and Wikipedia has details. While we fight abroad for the liberty of others, we must remember how much remains to be done at home. One country, many peoples, a shared future together.

The good husband's guide

You know, being a stay-at-home father and homemaker is not easy. It is hard to determine what your priorities should be amongst the many tasks that come with the job. Fortunately, my wife is very helpful with this problem. Here is a good example of the guidance she has emailed me over the last two years:

Canadian Code

A recent article on the CBC website struck me as a particularly Canadian coded title: Court throws out Toonie lawsuit against Tim's.  Anyone not from Canada might be more than a little lost with this.  Here is the key to the code: Toonie, Tim's.
